Healing Chicken Soup

Here's a healing chicken soup made for mothers during the post-partum period. My aunt made this simple soup for me this afternoon, July 13th, so quantities and times are estimated below.

This soup is said to clean your blood, clear the body of "bad wind", and improve circulation.

Ingredients:
  • 2 tbsp Sesame oil
  • 3 fingers "Old" ginger (wash well but do not peel; chop into large chunks)
  • 1 kg Fresh chicken, bone-in
  • 1 quart Water
  • 1/4 cup Wine (name of this wine unknown)
  • 1 cup chicken broth

Directions:

1.   Heat oil in a large wok on high heat.

2.   Stir fry ginger in the oil for about 2 minutes.

3.   Add chicken to wok and stir-fry about 5 minutes.

4.   Add water, wine and chicken broth and bring to a rolling boil. Reduce heat to medium, until chicken is cooked. You can make a pot of this to last several days and reheat individual portions to have with each meal.
