Holiday Shopping Made Easy

(ARA) - Although many people wait until the last minute to purchase a gift during the holidays, preparation is the easiest way to stay stress-free during an otherwise hectic gift-giving season. Follow these easy tips and you just may make it through another shopping spree and holiday feast.

* Make your list and check it twice.

Make a list of family and friends you typically exchange gifts with and add possible gift ideas throughout the year so you don’t forget when it comes time to shop. Many online shopping sites will allow you to register for reminders and can help you with personalized gift ideas. Blue Mountain cards and Amazon allow you to sign up on their Web sites to receive an email prompting you about the upcoming Holidays and provide gift recommendations. Also, keep a list of items you’ll need if you are hosting a party or what to bring if you plan to attend a family gathering. Consider what outfits you’ll need to keep you looking stunning at each event.

* Personalize your gift.

Getting a personalized gift that matches your friend or family member’s personality and interest is far more special. For example, if one member of the household likes decaf coffee and the other regular, give them the new Home Café single cup coffee maker that brews coffee-house style coffee in just one minute. Or, if they love fruit, consider a year’s supply through a fruit of the month club. You can personalize a housewarming gift too. Offer to bake homemade cookies or create a special holiday message to wrap around a bottle of wine.

* Beat the crowds.

Have a shopping strategy in advance to avoid long lines. Decide what gifts to purchase in advance, shop earlier during the season and during off-peak hours, such as first thing in the morning or late in the evening. Of course, online shopping is the easiest way to avoid harried shoppers since you never have to leave your home and don’t have to wrap your own gifts.

* Season’s Greetings.

Make sure your address book is updated throughout the year so you are not caught without the proper information as you prepare to send out season’s greetings. Many online sites and card stores allow you to create a custom message and sending e-cards is becoming far more typical, not to mention easier. Consider sending a personalized photo card to friends and family. Extend your list to include acquaintances, current and former co-workers and distant relatives. It is a great way to say you care and keep in touch. Make sure to include a personal message inside and allow extra time for delivery so your best wishes arrive on time.

Following these simple steps to get ahead this season will help you enjoy the Holidays even more.
